How to Add a Network Printer in Mac OS X

Mac series is well known for their extensive range of features that inspires people to build real-time applications. This is possible with the help of the preemptive multitasking and multithreading features. The users need to add the network printer using the Printer Preferences option. By default, the MacOS uses the AirPrint to connect to the popular printers without the help of additional software. If the AirPrint cannot connect to your printer, you will have to download and install the software that came along with the printer. Here is how you add the network printer in the Mac OS X system.

Step 1
Firstly, click on the 'Apple' icon that is located at the top left corner of the screen. Then select the ‘System Preferences’ option to view the system related settings for your Mac system.

Step 2
Select ‘Printers & Scanners’

In the 'System Preferences' window, you can find many system-related options. Select the ‘Printers & Scanners’ . This will open the settings regarding adding and modifying the printer and fax settings.

Select ‘Lock symbol’

The next step is to click on the ‘Lock’ symbol in order to make modifications to the printer and scan settings in your Mac OS system.

Select ‘+’

In the printers & scanners window, you can view the printers that are available for your Mac OS system. Click on the ‘+’ button as shown below to add a network printer.

Step 5
Select ‘Add’

A new window will appear that allows you to add a network printer. Here your computer network is scanned to find the available printers. You can select the printer you desire from the list and then click on the ‘Add’ option as shown below.

Step 6
Select ‘Continue’

You will get a new window that sets up the newly added printer to your Mac system. Now you can confirm by clicking on the ‘Continue’ button.

Step 7
Setting Up 'Network Printer'

Yow will now see the dialog box stating that the printer is being created. At the end of this process, you will find the new printer getting added to your list of available active printers.

You can now successfully add a network printer in Mac OS X system by following the above steps.
