how to add a custom res with ATi?

i need to set a funky res to play dark sector due to the AR being totally f'd up by the devs (known fault on steams forums).

someone posted a poss fix of taking your vert res and x 1.5 so i need to try and set a res of 1620x1080 to get around the AR problem. i can't play the game otherwise.

i'm tried 'hdtv support' and it mentions a custom HDTV format but the 'add' buttons are greyed out.

anyone know what to do to get this working?
