I have a win2k pro connect to internet through DSL.
By using ICS I be able to share the internet.
I can connect to my Win2k from internet.

I want to know how to set up win2k pro so that
I can connect to a machine on my local lan from
internet

What do you mean by connect? What kind of application you use? e.g., connect a ftp server, http server...

yes a bit more detail would help greatly 🙂

Connect mean i would be able to ftp/http to a machine on my home intranet from
internet. That's machine has ftp server install and run NT4.0.

If you only have one legal IP address, you will not be able to access the win98 machine directly.

However, it is possible to create a PPTP tunnel from the other machine on the internet to the win2k machine. allow the PPTP tunnel to assign an IP address in the same range as the 98 machine and they should rock.

DANGER! that last suggestion is a security risk. PPTP is clear text and the password (so I am told) is only 40 bits.

Another possibility is to pick up a second legal address and a hub/switch and bag ICS.

This comes out of a conversation with my co-worker Mike.
