how to access IBM thinkpad T21 bios?

i accidentally delete some windows system file, so i can't start windows xp. i tried hit F1 and all other keys to get into bios without any success. please some one help me thnaks.

power off.. Hold down F1 key.

Power up while holding F1 key

if that doesnt work, replace your bios battery.
