I tried installing my Zalman cnps7000 AlCu fan, but I for some reason the screws provided weren't long enough to reach the nipples? on the backplate. I had to put four of those cardboard washers to raise them enough so I could screw the fan down. Anyone have this problem? and how tight should the fan sit, do I screw it all the way down?

Thanks. Edit to my original problem ---> my screws wouldn't reach the STANDOFFS if I didn't add about r cardboard washers underneath them, is that OK? And to respond to Kensai, I am able to tighten the screws now so that they will go all the way into the standoff, do you think thats too much pressure? Should I just tighten it about halfway? I imagine theres already a lot of pressure because just getting the screws into the standoffs required some modest pressure already.

Is putting these washers there something that the Zalman instructions mentioned ?

I don't remember having to do this on the installations (I have 3 on 3 different computers - all Intel based).

And as far as the tightness of the screws, I tightened both screws as far as they would go, i.e. until the screw head hit the base of the screw hole. No problems.

I'm installing the Zalman on an AMD cpu, and on the flash installation they show some washer being placed between the standoff and the mobo (not 4 washers mind you, which is what I had to do). I might trying screwing it in all the way - but doesn't that run the risk of damaging the mobo/cpu?

I can't advise you on yours, this would be better a question directed to Zalman.

It did not hurt any of mine, like I said Intel and one has been running almost 24/7 for about 3 years.
