how tight do you hold your guitar pick?

i'm having a problem holding my guitar pick. i don't know exactly how hard your suppose to hold it when strumming, it's easier to hold it lightly when strumming cause my strumming feels smoother but i often lose the grip.

i know you guys are going to say just adjust to find a comfort level but i just want to get an idea on how others grip their picks. maybe, it's the cheepo picks i have.

From what I know, it depends on the pick and how you want to hold it.

If you want to hold it tight, you get a softer, more flexable pick. If you want to hold it loose (so you don't get hand cramps 😉 ) get a harder pick.

It's up to you, there is a reason there are so many types of picks 😉

Just get a few and find your niche, they only cost a buck for a handful.

I don't even think about it. Make sure you angle the pick downwards when you're struming down and upwards when you're strumming up. If you're not doing that I can see where it would be difficult.

EDIT: BTW people usually recommend thinner picks for beginners. Maybe not all beginners like them but I guess most do. I like them better than thick ones... easier to do fast up-and-down stroke palm muting with them.
