read the description (from cnet, gotten from a tech support thread)

<< Editor's note: This software is ad-supported and will display pop-up advertisements on your PC. It also collects IP address information and may sell user data to third-party advertisers. For more information, please refer to eScorcher's... >>

Why the fcuk is the Hollings bill being considered, yet this kind of thing is not illegal? This is a fcuked up country!!!! STOP BEING SHEEP TO BUSINESSES/CORPORATIONS/MEDIA COMPANIES/SOFTWARE COMPANIES AND STAND UP FOR YOURSELVES FOR ONCE!

I dont see how they are related at all.

On one hand, you have a freey crappy spyware virus that is YOUR choice to download.
On the other, a bill, which is law, and not a choice...

I think the primary problem with eScorcher is it often times will install itself without telling the user. I got it once while surfing at stick-death.com. Needless to say I was quite pissed.

Don't download it, yes, but it also is a very deceptive product nevertheless ~"we may sell your information to thrid-party sources"

It is their fault, but many people will never understand/not see what this product does and nevertheless dl it

I don't see what the big deal is. If you don't like the ad-ware then don't download it.

<< This program installed without permission while reading Yahoo email and with no option to cancel the install. Not knowing what it was I immediately uninstalled it, without any problems, but was unknowingly left with the supporter5.exe file in my systems folder which caused extremely annoying pop-ups. Just an added note to other users, the supporter5.exe file is easy to remove but you must first do CTRL/ALT/DEL and END TASK on Supporter5 first, then go into your systems folder (C:/WINDOWS/SYSTEMS) and delete the supporter.exe file from your machine. >>
