always annoys me. some vids that should be widescreen are squished and there's no option i can see to make them play in a different AR.

You cannot change the AR at playback time. Youtube will use the AR that the file was in when uploaded.

texashiker - i'm the viewer, not the uploader :)

Mark R - dammit! that sucks. youtube sucks for not having something so obvious as altering the AR :(

It's a waste of effort when 99.9% of video uploaders (and 100% of competent video uploaders) get it right.

change the resolution on your monitor to a custom res to compensate.

He knows that. He was trying to be funny by making a reference to a rifle.

ah, wasn't funny i guess :)

there's a lot of them that are wrong though. especially when you get to the weird part of youtube. i always end up there after watching a cat video :colbert:

too funky a solution plus my PC is connected to a plasma tv.

easiest way i guess is to download and watch in media player classic

you thought i was asking about how to change a gun in a youtube video?

I've seen some really bad english being used around here before, check out some of nicecold's threads...its not outside the realm of possibility...makes ad much sense as changing the aspect ratio which I believe is the actual question:colbert:

Did anyone else what a rebate (AR = after rebate) had to do with a Youtube video?

Then I realized AR = aspect ratio?
