How the hell do the homeless survive in this cold weather?

It's freezing today and the homeless are huddled next to a heated man hole! Tonight it will be a cardboard box that will shelter these poor souls. It's suspossed to be 5 degrees in Jersey tonight! I would throw a thrash can into a store window and go to jail then spend the night on the cold street!

I'm cold just thinking about it! :)

Sometimes, i wonder what the homeless are thinking. All they have to do is commit petty crimes, and go to jail where our damn taxes will be paying for their lazy asses.

Yeah, the other day, I was in detroit and a homeless guy asked me for some change. We didnt't have any money but I had a slice of pizza (I just ate lunch) and gave it to him.

I felt sorry for the guy, I couldn't even stand outside going from the restaraunt to the people mover.

Many of these people are litereally insane. There are not very many homeless people who are 100% together mentally.

The majority do suffer from mental illness. Maybe we could take a homeless person into our homes and apartments tonight guys? It will be an act of kindness! :)

I love people who call the homeless "lazy". I'm sure they really enjoy sleeping on the street when it's below zero. Oh wait..they should just suck it up and get a job...oh wait...you can't even apply for one without a legal address.

That's not the point, and you know it. As for your question, if I had any around here when it got this cold, I would not let them live with me for obvious reasons that I would probably wake up the next day having stuff missing, nevermind the fact that as was said, most are mentally ill, and I wouldn't let any metally ill person, homeless or no in my house.

I would however give them some food, and any old clothes I could spare.

Well, in NYC, the manhole covers that cover steam mains are over 130 degrees. The ground surrounding them are over 100 degrees. If you ever take a walk in NYC, you can tell where underground steam mains are because they actually heat the ground enough to melt all snow / ice even when snowfall is over a foot. The mains are usually over 10 feet deep and encased in a concrete shell as well!
