hi,

i got a latitude csx laptop and i want to replace the hd. however... the two screws holding down the face plate that covers the hd is smaller then the other screws on the case. i bought some screwdrivers from a hobby shop and when i went to take the screws out... the tip of the screwdriver got warped (stripped). any advice on what i'm to do? do i need to get some heavy duty craftsmans or something?

uh, did the screw get warped, or did the screwdriver?
because if the screwdriver got warped, just use another one.

it was the screwdriver that got warped. that's one tough screw. looks like i am gonna need heavy duty tools from sears.

When you attack that screw again, try tightening it first to break the threadlock. You should only need to turn it about 1/20 of a turn.

Buy a decent screwdriver. Look for the ones that have a darker color tip. The metal is much stronger. I've ruined lots of cheap screwdrivers doing exactly the same thing.

<soapbox>Always spend more any buy good tools. Take care of them and they will stay with you forever. Either cry once and get something nice the first time, or cry many times whenever you have to re-buy poor-quality junk.</soapbox>

Or something to that effect. Quote belongs to Ford, proprietor of the mass-produced car.
