I was just told that the Big Boss wants me to go and layout a site for construction and that we would handle designing it later! Am I supposed to do the layout and then just do an As-Built?? That is impossible. This is the first time I have even heard about this project. I told them sorry, but you have to tell me what the hell you want out there before I can even start!

Well if the way you handle things there is the standard method then "lay-out" would mean to just to do a write-up/sketch of a site where you put boxes to denote text content and boxes with an X to denote graphics... somewhat similar to how a layout in Pagemaker looks.

However it always helps to know what he wants so you can layout the site accordingly.

Other companies consider a layout similar to a flowchart where one can see the hierarchy of links and pages on the site.

<<?? that's a different language to me>

Well, we do design and layout. First you design it and then you go to the site and lay it out for the contractor who is going to do the construction. You don't just say; "Build me a road over there."

a little more explaination would help. do you mean a site to build buildings or a website? I use to build websites and we always had to make a layout of the new site before we started construction.

Edit: I was typing preoccupied before sending my reply. It's a construction site. disregard the above.

Yeah, really good planning. They want to start on Monday. It's a simple job, but noone has even told me what they want out there yet!
