How the hell do I determine what kind of Hard Drive is in a Maxtor Retail Box?

I was checking out a 40gig retail drive at staples for $99.99. Box says its a 7200rpm drive & has the ATA133 sticker attached to it on the front. However, on the side sticker it says ATA-100. I hate the way Maxtor makes it so vague as to what HD is in its box. I remember going through this 2 years ago trying to figure out if its a plus 40 or plus 60 drive. I ask because I want the D740X model & i cant tell if that is the drive in the box. Serial number off the side is 362203023846 if that helps. Thanks

So far from what I gathered Maxtor will just use the same box & slap on a "ATA100" or "ATA133" sticker when they put in a different model(for instance they will put an ATA100 sticker on an ATA66 box if the drive is the newer ATA100 model) As far as I can tell the only ATA133models are the d740x models(if so the dirve I looked at must be a d740x)-can anybody confirm that?

I bought them anyway. The guy at staples said if they werent the ata133 drives that I could return them without a restocking fee. I immediately opened them & they were 40gig D740x models(the ata133 brand-their latest) so it is true that Maxtor will throw their newer drives in retail boxes of older ones & just slap a sticker on the front.
