I'm not a moron, I said NEARLY cured. Sure, they did not cure him entirely, but there are no traces of the virus either. At this point its pretty difficult to say he still has it or that he is cured, they just don't really know for sure. But they know they haven't seen any traces of the virus in quite some time.
The same can be said for many people on the antiviral drugs.
In many people it reduces the virus to undetectable levels. They are not cured however, as it returns as soon as treatment is stopped.
The day MJ stops taking the meds is the day his viral count will sky rocket. I am in the same exact boat. I just saw my Infectious Disease Specialist yesterday, and I have an undetectable viral load. (I have had 5 years of undetectable viral loads this summer.) Neither one of us are nearly cured as you previously stated. MJ's doctors are absolutely certain he is not cured because they actually understand how protease inhibitors and other HIV medications work.
There is no nearly cured when it comes to HIV. The only thing you got right in your previous post is that it is expensive to buy the prescriptions to suppress HIV. Maybe calling you a moron is harsh, but telling people that MJ is nearly cured is well, moronic.

I was under the impression that since they cannot detect the HIV virus that they do not know for sure if he even still has it. I trust you though, as you obviously have experience with this stuff. If you don't mind my asking, exactly how expensive is expensive? And does your insurance cover it?

Sorry to be so harsh earlier, but there are so many people that are ignorant about HIV and it's treatments that I sometimes get short tempered with them.
The cost of treatment varies depending on the "cocktail" used. The cost of the drugs runs from around $10,000 a year to as high as $100,000 a year. The drugs I am on cost $18,000 a year if I was to buy them direct from the pharmacy. The VA provides my medications for free because of my income. The VA provides the drugs at a low cost of $8 a prescription per month for those making more than around $24,000 a year.
Medicare, Medicaid and state agencies assist most patients with the cost of the drugs. For those that don't qualify for public assistance are eligible for help from the Ryan White Foundation and other private charities. The pharmaceutical companies also provide assistance programs that provide the medications for free or reduced cost for those that do not qualify for public assistance.
Private insurance has to cover the cost if it provides a prescription plan, by law.

Don't forget Eazy-E, his case was interesting because he died something like 5 months after he was diagnosed, so I'm guessing he must've had full blown AIDS already.
