I did a search and compare after I reached my personal best 3dmark2001 score, 8062, with my shuttle ak31 r3.1, athlonxp 1600+ @ 146fsb, Visiontek Geforce3 TI200 235/520, detonator 22.50 w/ nvmax installed, minimap -3, vsync off, side band addressing and agp fast write (although i have it enabled in the bios and in the nvmax applet it still shows disabled for some reason in wcpuid) and these guys are getting 8500+ with less tweaking than me, what's going on? Am I missing some big secret tweak?

I just put together the systemin my sig and get 8563 at default everything. But who cares? At least it looks cool to my non-comp literate friends.

Your doing better then my non-overclocked Ti500. Then again, whats the difference between 220 and 245 fps?

There are a slew of factors that go into determining your results, some of which could be, anti-virus running in background( or any other proggies running in taskbar too...), is AA enabled, the version of drivers being used, how long has your install of window$ been gagging along, is desktop set to 1024x768, 32-bit color..... mem timing settings, hard drive speed etc etc........... With a fresh install of Win98, a Hercules 64meg GF2 Pro, driver 21.83, and 1600+@1491mhz(142fsb) I was able to get 9014 marks in 3DMark 2000, 4478 in 3DMark 2001 ;) Try various settings and bench again. Biggest culprit is usually a background proggie........ hth

I concur with Mustanggt
Your score is excellent and you should be blowing up on the games you play, so worrying about trying to juice another 400 points out of your set-up is pointless.

Well you could get FS2002 a few expantion deals from Lago ,load up on downloads for the expantions (tons of trucks and people at every airport, extra buildings and weather effects) crank up all the detail and bring your FPS back into the 30s. :D ;) :p

Edit: Here's a shrunk down screenie of it maxed detail, fsaa, resolution and OC. Note the 14FPS with no add-on files just everything turned up, granted I just break 5k 3D#s in 2k1 but wow.

Re-edit: whats up with the default grumpy on Christmas Eve? ;)

Higher 3dm2k1 scores can indeed help your gameplay.
My 1.4GHz with GF3 Ti200 scores around 7000.
More is needed. (much more)..

Running Nascar Racing 4 at 1024x768x32, and settings at max quality,
2x AA, etc, I'm only getting 28-30fps. Rock solid stable, and never drops
below 28fps or above 30fps anywhere on the track or in a race. Turning
off 2x AA and other stuff, and fps shoot way up into the 60's.

So if you want to see the best image, then you need the most fps you can get
as a starting point. All image improvements will lower those fps by a large amount.

Now if all you play is spider solitare, then I guess a score of 3000 will do.
