how the HECK do i shut my dvd/cdrw up!?

dude, I have a samsung DVD CDRW combo drive, and its LOUD when it plays cd's and copies normal cd data to the HD.
When I press on the front CD cover, it mutes the sound slightly, but come on! Anyone have any mod to shut this thing up?!

Epoxy little strips of plastic to the tray where there's empty space that doesn't block any gears and other such things.

Practice with poster putty before you start.

actually i used nero's cd speed and the damn thing is silent as a hum now!
