How the heck do I get actual 4k on this old 4k TV?

I got an Xbox one s specifically to play 4k content on an "old" 4k TV that came out before the new HDMI specification. Naturally it can only display 4k at 24fps. I figured that this would be fine for movies. However I can't get anything to work in 4k. It looks like neither Netflix or Hulu support 24fps. I just bought planet earth 2 uhd bluray and while it plays it only plays at 1080p 24fps. How the heck do I get the Xbox one s to output the uhd bluray at 4k 24fps?
 
Your TV must be HDCP 2.2 compliant in order for you to display UHD blu rays. Chances are, if your TV is old, it is probably not compliant. Check the specs.
 
Agree with all of the above. You won't be able to play uhd BlurRay off x1s without proper HDCP support. However it's not the end of the world 4k wise. Chances are your TV since it's prior to the standardized HDMI 4K specs still accepts 4k @ 24hz which you computer/laptop can output... essentially your TV acts like a dumb 4k monitor and will accept anything 4k up to whatever refresh rate it's limited to as long what whatever your connecting allows the output... which (ahem) some questionable things and software that run on a computer do.
 
Also, you need to tell your xbox one s to play in 4k. When I got my 4k tv a couple of months ago I popped in an UHD disc and expected it to "just play" in 4k but the HDR indicator never showed up on my TV. I went into the xbox's settings and manually changed the video portion and now it plays at 4k.
 
I think you can use a streaming box of some kind like Apple TV 4k, Roku, or Nvidia shield to get some 4k content. Specifically you can force the Nvidia shield to 24hz and it might work for Netflix or amazon. I’m not sure if hdcp will still be a deal breaker though.
