How the heck did my liability insurance go up?

My dad pays for liability insurance, and that's with a cheap a$$ 1987 Mazda 626LX. Before when we first got the car, my insurance was $50 a month. That's cheap to him, so I agreed. I have a cleand riving record, no tickets, violations, etc... Now he tells me he is paying $100 a month niow for my liability... How the heck did that happen? What is this, I drive good for 4 years, and my insurance doubles? That's messed up eh? We have Auto Club, and something smells fishy with them... I remember them screwing up before with our car insurance...

Man, if Auto Club is AAA... sheesh. I started out with them almost three years ago at $81 a month, then $86, and now this year's policy is $92 a month. My driving record was clean up until last night when I got pulled over. Hopefully the magistrate will be nice enough to let me serve a probationary period. 🙁

yep Auto Club is AAA... I even have the good student discount thingy, and it's still up there... Man, the are lookin like crooks...

Switch to State Farm, now! 🙂

I remember hearing that State Farm is the highest rated insurance company in the US, as far as rates go.

Are you talking highest value of insurance or that it'll be cheaper than others?

AHH, NOOOO!!

Anyway, find some smaller independent agent. They will usually find you the best rates. Shop around. Call up or stop by all the agents around and ask them for quotes. Yes, even State Farm, I suppose.

In general, all insurance rates have been going up. But there's not much you can do about it.

(My dad's an independent insurance agent in Northwestern Iowa. State farm is out biggest competitor :Q )

I have state farm, and the rates are very good. I get $150 off from good student, so I am barely paying anything. 😀

I was recently working with my insurance agent and was told that the state "baseline" had recently gone up. The state baseline is apparently a state mandated minimum that insurance agencies must charge.

damn state laws! they mess up everything, and hurt people even with good driving records. curse those new laws on auto insurance...
