What are you afraid of? Siemens is an instution. Everybody in the world, with the possible exception of Michael Jackson, was conceived that way. There's nothing to be ashamed of.

You also pronounce it incorrectly. It is SEE-MENS. That's how you pronounce it. I used to work for them.

not the best name for a company IMO, but it IS pronounced like semen

You do realize its a German company. And they're one of the biggest companies globally so I don't think their name affects anything...

The German way (the correct way) to pronounce it would be by making the first S sound like "Z".

As for the OP - do you also giggle when it comes to the name Uranus?

I used to work at a division of Siemens.

If you are an American, it's pronounced Sea-mens.
If you are European, it's pronounced Zee-mens.

I was a contractor on a project, and I stayed with them until completion of the project.

One of the benefits of being a contractor is that you get to receive the boot every time a project is done. "Great job on the project, it was a success! Now get the fvck out!"
