I've noticed every job has a superstar. The guy who gets favored for everything and who the company would almost never fire, no matter what they did.

Today I realized I was that guy. My supervisor asked me to do something, I refused, he rebutted and looked at him and said "it's not my problem." I was working on the largest order of the year, which I was single handedly responsible for creating.

I've never had a job where I was the superstar. I'm by no means some baller or high paid salesman, I'm actually underpaid. This is of little importance to me as I own a business on the side which I am investing my future in, so I do not plan to stay at the company much more than probably 2 years.

Are you the superstar? Are you the slacker? Where in the company are you?

I'm at or near the bottom, not a superstar more of a slacker.
I'm not yet a year out of college, and this job is more for experience and to pay off a little of my student loans before I decide if I want to continue my education or pursue other options.

I think I tend to be looked at that way, but the funny thing is that I don't even try. lulz... feels weird for sure.

I was at the pizza shop. At school, we have this "tenure" thing. However, for the last 6 or 7 years, if anyone wants lights on in our auditorium, I'm the guy you have to call. No one else knows how to program it or turn on 90% of them. Ditto a few other things - some idiot put staples into the staple cartridge backwards (what poor design) - once the cartridge was closed, it resulted in a cartridge that wouldn't work, and because of the position of the staples, couldn't be reopened. They called the Xerox guy & he said it's happened before & it's impossible to open it; he'd have to order a new cartridge & it'd be in within 2 business days. Got the okay to try, since the company rep said it was basically garbage. Half an hour later, I was the hero. As far as teaching goes, I'm not the "superstar" - I might be in many districts, but we have an outstanding district with a large number of outstanding teachers.

I felt like I was one of the best team leaders in my MP company (we had a bunch of good ones). I was definitely encouraged by a lot of leaders to stay in the Army.

At my current job, I dunno. I'm really good at talking to customers, but I wouldn't say that I'm "the best". I do a quality job that makes both management and customers happy.
