About four days after his $1,000 bicycle was stolen, a Tempe man discovered it listed for sale on Craigslist.

Police arranged to meet with the seller, which led to the arrest Monday of Daniel Shafer, 28, on suspicion of possessing of stolen property and driving with a suspended license.

Shafer stole the bicycle sometime between Friday and Saturday from the victim's residence in the 1200 block of East Vista del Cerro, police said.

After the victim found his bike on the popular classified advertisements Web site, he contacted police. A patrol officer then contacted Shafer through Craigslist and arranged to meet and purchase the bicycle at Rural and Broadway roads. Shafer was arrested and taken to the Tempe City Jail.

Glad he got his bike back though. I had my bike jacked from me when I was 10. It was literally like that one episode of Family Guy when Stewy got his bike stolen.

I remember when I was little somebody stole my bike... turned out to be my neighbors about 3 or 4 doors down. One of my other neighbors saw it in their backyard while they were working on taking it apart and they called the police.

Funny story about bike theft and stupidity. My ex-girlfriend has a crazy lesbian sister who steals things occasionally for money. One time the sister stole my friends bike from her garage, and sold it to some random guy. The guy the sister sold the bike to had it serviced at the bike shop my friend originally bought the bike at. The shop then called my friend and asked him if he knew that someone else had his bike, got his bike back and everyone went home happy. Don't know if he was taken in for buying stolen property, but I can suspect his days of theft haven't lasted long.

Craigslist and eBay are a big place to pawn off stolen goods. This is not new just the owner got lucky. Kinda like pawn shops use to be the old eBay/craigslist of today.
