i just looked at my motherboard from the side, and after flipping the P4 cooling fan levers, its bent quite a lot under the CPU. this is normal?

it boots up fine, just curious how much flexibility is ok.

rule of thumb.. if it works fine. you're ok. :D

i've seen mobos mounted sloppily (word?) in cases and after they are replaced years down the road they come out extremely bent
but have worked fine the entire time before-hand

you'll be ok.

Yeah, try breaking an old stick of obsolete memory sometime. PCB is tougher than you might think! :D

Man PCB is strong - I tried breaking my ECS K75SA and the bloody thing wouldn't snap - bent it so far back and the sharp edges almost took my fingers off - even a hammer had a heck of time smashing it (dratted board nearly killed me). Hows that for strong

That's Regalk's meaning of life ... seed "ECS is crap" into every possible thread. Sometimes even the impossible ones.

yeap, the p4 stock heatsink is known to bend the pcb.
me wonders why the core never cracks???;)

The core doesn't crack because it's covered by a heatspreader. This evens out the force on the core. Look at this picture of a P4 with and without the integrated heatspreader on it.

get a cheapo *PC-CHIPS* mobo and try to break it. Then you will know how strong is it.

Peter you have stuck to your guns (as well as Buzzb) and I have stuck to mine - this was not an ECS K@#$A thread BTW. I am pretty set in my ways what can I say. I still continue to buy mobos in droves (have a stockpile now and all working thank you) and the ECS still sticks out in my brain. My latest venture is the A7N8X (working like a champ) and soon to add Granite B or Sppringdale.
