How stable is BIOS 1007 on an A7M266?

I have an A7M266 which is still at the BIOS from when I bought it (last August). I have a 1.4GHz Thunderbird, but am thinking about dropping an XP1800+ into it. Apparently, the newer BIOS's add support for the XP line, so I thought I'd update. But I've had problems with Asus BIOS in the past not being very stable. Does anyone here use an A7M266 with version 1007? If so, is it stable? Or are/were there any problems after you flashed it? Thanks.

I'm not too sure about the 1007 version, but I'm running an AMD 1700 w/ BIOS rev 1006 and its flawless. And my theory is if it works don't mess with it. I hope his helps you some, I wold update to the 100 and let it run with that. If you feel brave update it to the 1007, the worst that can happen is it won't be as stable as the 1006. And if you're not happy with it go back to 1006. Here's the link to ASUS USA page for the A7M266 bios' http://download.asus.com.tw/mb_dl_menu.asp?Status=31&l1=1&l2=10&l3=3&mid=1 . Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

Oh and sorry about the blank message. 🙂 JOE P

I don't update my bios unless the new version has some good bug fixes on it, or if I have a problem. If I have a problem I update anything that can be updated.

Before you buy the new AMD processor just make sure your motherboard can support it. I just went through some of that BS recently.
