How spicy do you like your spicy food?

I still think of siracha as mildly spicey ketchup, but the wife likes it.

She's sitting here and corrected me, she says she just s likes the taste.

I prefer something in between that and melting your face off.

I consider it rather mild, but I also like the taste of Sriracha. I use it like ketchup (dip french fries, spring rolls, etc. in it), but since it has no tomato in it, don't actually think of it as ketchup. If I want spicy ketchup, I add some Tabasco to Heinz's.

Have you tried Tapatio? I prefer it slightly over Cholula.

I like sriracha, but IMO, Huy Fong's sauce is too sweet.

I like hot food, but it has to have the flavor to support the heat. I don't like heat just for heat's sake. There is a Vietnamese stir-fry place near us, and their lemongrass-chili sauce is pretty hot, but the chef knows me and makes it a little hotter and I love it. He usually gives me a little cup of peppers on the side so I can mix some of those in too.

It's huge here in Southern California. I knew about that stuff before I ever heard about Tabasco. I'm not much of a fan of it or Tabasco but lots of people love it.

We don't have a huge Mexican immigrant population, but Tapatío has become pretty common here in NYC. If there are Mexican grocery stores/neighborhoods anywhere near you, I'd check those first.

Hmm. Tabasco is more than a hundred years old, but being from Louisiana, maybe it's more of an East Coast thing...

Tapatio is way better. I think Cholula is too salty, has a weird bitter flavor, and something about the vinegar is odd. Although Tapatio is probably more vinegary, but it does taste better.

I agree and discovered it by accident through a local burrito food cart. They had it, I tried it and loved it. It has a smoky aftertaste or something.

Not sure. It's big in California though. You can get a bottle for 99 cents at a 7-11 or something.

IMO even though growing up with it I still like Chaloua better.
