Here is the pre-written text:
"Dear Editor,

When Rick Scott ran for Governor he promised to create jobs and turn our economy around. I voted for Rick because he’s always been a businessman, not a politician. While politicians usually disappoint us and rarely keep their promises, Rick is refreshing because he’s keeping his word. His policies are helping to attract businesses to our state and get people back to work. Some of the special interests are attacking the Governor for making tough decisions, showing leadership, and doing what he told us he would do. Rick Scott deserves our unwavering and enthusiastic support. How can we expect to elect leaders who will keep their word and do what’s right for our state if we don’t stand up for those with the courage to set priorities, make difficult choices, and actually deliver on their promises made? "

Very sneaky - all I can say.

Ok yes that's just a bit sleazy. Can't wait for their form letters to show up quoted from the papers in campaign ads for the governor.

Can't think of anything nice to say about the governor? Don't worry. We got you covered.

You really have to wonder how this guy thinks if he doesn't realize that this crap makes him look "ethically challenged".

I also wonder how he actually got voted in.
I think it shows many people do not think and just vote for their team.
Only when something happens that affects them then they realize it was not good.

Let me guess; it's the public's fault for not recognizing what a great person he is, which is why he has to result to these tactics.

Republicans are piles of shit. Where's the news?
Correction; they are piles of shit that still get to tell you what a terrible person you are and how you should do what they say.

Yeah he's a shitbag.

What's funny is you can't find anyone down here who will admit they voted for Rick Scott.

He got voted in because Alex Sink ran one of the worst campaigns I've ever seen, at any level of government.

Bill McCollum spent millions in the Republican primary on attack ads going after Rick Scott for the Medicare fraud scandal. He couldn't make it stick. While its true that Florida has closed primaries, the battle was very public and I don't know of anyone of any political persuasion who wasn't sick of those ads by the time the primary was decided.

So what does Sink do with her relatively limited campaign funds? She spends them all on attack ads going after Rick Scott for the Medicare fraud scandal. Not only had McCollum proved this was not an effective tactic, but just about all of Florida had already made up their mind on that issue in terms of the election. Complete waste of campaign.

I don't disagree. I am more interested in questioning the people who simply voted for him because he is republican.

What is your opinion regarding this pre-written praise letter?

dont bother the denial is strong in that one....

How anyone could have expected the guy who cheated taxpayers out of billions in fraudulent claims would be a good governor is beyond me...

I seriously cannot fathom how ANYONE from any party would have voted for him....

Sounds like this was something written by Rick Snyder gov. of Michigan. Apparently they were cut from the same cloth.

Sounds like I left Florida at the right time.

But lets not pretend that this is the first time this has ever happened.

You'd love it here now... the GOP has a stranglehold on everything.

I'm seriously considering getting out soon.

He's cost the state high-speed rail. The public says:

A Quinnipiac University survey released Wednesday indicates that 57 percent of Florida voters disapprove of how Republican Gov. Rick Scott is handling his duties, up nine points from early April. Twenty-nine percent of people questioned in the poll say they approve of how Scott's performing in office, down six points over the past month.

btw Orlando to Tampa would have cost at least $3 billion.

That is insane!! It is an easy one hour drive between those two cities on a nice flat and un-congested highway. Take that money and add a few more freeway lanes and you would do a lot more to help economic development than a train line on a few thousand a day would have used.

Travel between Orlando to Tampa is usually around 1 hour and I'd add another 30 minutes or so during peak times. Driving inside Orlando, I've heard, is another story. I have no idea how it behaves during summer when the kids are out of school.

You might be right saying that adding more lanes might have more benefit.
I don't know enough to comment on the viability of the train.

I lived in Orlando for about 13 years total.

Traffic is no worse than any other major city. And there is certainly NOT enough travel between Orlando and Tampa to justify a $4 billion train.

Now light rail/mono-rail between the Airport-Convention Center-Disney would make sense due to the millions of people who travel that route via cap, bus or rental car.

I know 100% for sure it was not in the original plan to run the train to downtown Tampa or St Petersburg, I suspect it was the same on the Orlando side. So traffic in the downtowns of these 3 major cities would not have been impacted in any way. The place the train ran was mainly in rural areas where traffic really isn't an issue. St Pete, Tampa, and Orlando are EXTREMELY car based destinations. There isn't a lot of Public transportations (other than buses).. unless you take the bus, you drive.. period. There is no method in place that would have taken people from the train stop on the tampa side to the beaches for example. The train would have run nowhere NEAR the beaches. People would have had to rent a car or take a bus.

No, especially given how large the Orlando and Tampa/St Pete metro areas are, the traffic between them can be relatively light.
