I ahve an old 866 MHz PIII laying around, and it's actually pretty fun to tinker with. I just like seeing what it can do, so far I've ran unreal 2k3 on it, and stuff like Age of Mythology. Works fine, but not as fast as a modern machine.

depends on what you're doing...for generalized web surfing, to be perfectly honest a PIII-500 works OK with enough RAM.

For my own personal uses though? over 2GHz (AMD) or over 2.4GHz (P4) is pretty darn nice.

Browsing web? 1ghz is enough. My P3 600 bogs down when there's loads of flash and other multimedia on a website, so 1ghz is probably enough for most of those surfing and file sharing needs.

366mhz is too slow and 500mhz with 128 ram is borderlining on slow.
