Ok, i've been thinking about upgrading something, just for the hell of it even, critique my system.

400w PSU
ECS K7S5A
XP 1600+
768mb PC2100 (crucial)
60gb Maxtor 7200 HD (2mb cache)
PNY Geforce 4 MX440 64mb DDR.
48x16x48 CDRW
12X DVDROM
Onboard Sound + LAN
17" Phillips Flat CRT
Broadband (1.5/256)

System is used primarly for internet/apps, only real game i play is Warcraft III, and it runs fine @ 1024x768 max detail. Hard drive has about 9gb free, about 40++gb is shared music/movies/etc.
Should i not upgrade anything and just hold out for a big cpu/mobo/ram/vid card upgrade later on? What you think?

I agree with the video card suggestion, that is the worst thing on your system. I Radeon 9100, 9500 pro, or a 9700 pro depending on your budget(about $100,$200,$300 in round figures). Also, that CPU could be updated to a 2400+ for about $100.

My opinion you are fine. If you play warcraft 3 and games like Wc3 then your computer is great for it. I would wait and save the cash. I had a GF4 MX and a AMD 1800+ and everything I played was smooth. Unreal Tournament 2003, Command and conquer generals, and warcraft 3 as well played fine on that system. Though I did run the games 800 x 600, and in normal detail.

If you want to make a cheap upgrade then just buy a good heat sink and fan for 20-50 dollars and overclock the AMD.

If you only play one game, and it runs perfectly fine for you then why bother with the graphics card.
No use getting something better if what you have already does the job perfectly.

I'd say upgrade the processor.

If you're satisfied with the level of play, no need to upgrade; save your money for a major overhaul. If anything, consider a good set of speakers or headphones, it will add alot to the gaming experience.

have a 3 piece logitech speaker system, 340's or something? i dunno.

anywho, yea i think the 2400+ is the biggest CPU this board can take, because its only 266fsb.

ah well, i think if i do anything, it'd probably be that, unless i find a new game that requires a video card update.
