II haven't been running since October because of an injury but I've been doing a lot of cardio so I'm in shape.

How should I train between now and the race?

5k isn't that long so you should be fine. Since you use to run your the only one that really knows what is best for you. I suggest simply running until your injury begins to feel strained in any way than stopping. Don't push yourself too hard or your bound to re-injure whatever it was.

I also wouldn't recommend being to competitive during your 1st race back from an injury but that's just me and I'm not to competitive to begin with so do whatever is within your comfort zone.

Best wishes!

Thanks. I had tendinitis in my right achilles tendon.

I've rested it for a while and I have orthodics now, so hopefully I'll be okay.

Need more info: train to win? Train to finish? What's your goal here? What's your running experience?

Well to train, I would start running. No for real, I would just start around 5k runs, then work up to about 8 by the 17th or 18th...then on the 21-23 run 5ks

as long as you're not doing it while you're running.

but then again, that would probably build some good hand-eye-feet coordination....

I think that finishing in less than 20 min would be a reasonable goal.

You haven't run in 6 months and you want to race? Ouch. You can't build a base for a 5k race in 2 weeks.

Run every day until the 21st.
On the 22nd, run a max of 2K
On the 23rd, run a max or 1K
On the 24th, FLY LIKE THE WIND!
