should i buy a router? 2 nics in 1 box?

im buying a new computer, it'll probably run Win2k (maybe dual boot with win98se), and my other computer will be running win98se. should i get a router? if so which one? or should i just do the 2 nics in 1 comp thing with a hub? hmm now that i think about it i can get one of those crossover cables right? i might be adding a 3rd computer to the network so ill probably need a hub or router. what do you guys think?

right now i have pacbell dsl (grr) and i have a dynamic IP...ill probably switch to mediaone cable tho, thats probably important

If you plan on sharing your internet connection, the router would be the easiest. If you will have one machine up all the time, you can get away with a hub and a newtwork card in each machine. You will need Some NAT software like WinGate. you will only need a crossover cable if you plan on connecting a hub to a hub, but most newer hubs have an uplink port so you don't need th crossover cable. I personally run the Linksys 4 port router and have no probs. 3 PCs hooked up to it, each with a NIC. It was up and running in 10 mins.
