Have a 5 year old subaru impreza NA. It's got like 57k miles, it's in good shape except cosmetic damage. Some douche hit me in a parking lot and never left a note..So there is a decent sized noticable scrape on my right side of the bumper. Also, on the left side of the bumper there is some small damage from backing into a pole. Totally my bone headed fault. More over, my bumper is fucked. No dents but just looks kind of shitty. The front fender is also cracked due to me parking and hitting one of those cement "stoppers" in a parking spot. Not really noticable unless you get up real close, but it's still there.

My question is whether or not I should repair all or some of these things, or to just let them be and take the hit when I go to sell this.

Lastly..based on the advice on what to do, should I trade it in (looking to buy a either an 08/09 A4/328xi or a newer wrx/STi) or sell private for cash?

Without pictures my guess is you ought not repair them. If you can do it yourself, sure, but then you'd already have done it.

Everybody knows that private party is your best bet to maximize your money. It's also a pain in the ass. Only you can judge if that pain in the ass of it is worth the extra cash. My guess is you'll lose $1-2k on that particular vehicle trading it in, best case (could be a lot more if you get hosed).

Do not repair and sell, private party, on Craigslist.

Small, economy cars are valuable and sell quickly. As long as the damage is purely cosmetic, it shouldn't matter too much. It might be a relief for whoever ends up buying it! It is like getting your first door ding on a new car. You say fuck it and stop parking in BFE.

As is, private party. Should go quickly. If you're in the midwest or any snow state, it should go REALLY quickly.
