I have a rosewill 600w psu with a 120mm exhaust fan. I always keep it on low (I find it too loud on high). My case also has a 120mm antec tri-cool fan as a direct exhaust (I also keep this on low). My question is w/ a x2 3800+ with an AC64 freezer pro, should I direct the fan to blow towards the rear, or upwards?
I have an Asus a8n32-sli deluxe mobo. So I was thinking I might be able to reduce my temperatures overall by putting the supplied heatpipe fan on the heatpipe, exhaust that heat out through the rear 120, then exhaust the freezer pro through the PSU.
will exhausting already hot air from the cpu through the psu decrease the psu's life (but then again, if cooling the heatpipe cools the ambient temperature, this solution may put less heat through the psu than leaving it to suck out case air)?
I'm concerned because I recently removed the heatpipe form the mobo and put as5 on each of the three collectors. now it's too hot to touch on the three collectors (I'm assuming this increase in temperature on the pipe means less on the actual chips it covers?).
I also have a 120mm fan helping to pull air, blowing from my hdd trays to the expansion slots. I have a gig of crucial ballistix ddr400 which gets hot to the touch (this is situated right in front of the freezer's fan, on the intake side...
