How should I go about hooking up my speakers to my computer?

My receiver unit for my stereo system has 2 Auxiliary inputs (left/right), and I want to be able to play MP3s on my computer and have it play through the speakers. The problem is my computer only has a headphone port(Mac Mini). Anything I can do or do I need an external sound card and a different type of cable? Any help would be appreciated..thanks!

Go to radio shack and get a stereo 1/8th mini male to rca male adapter.
Plug in and go.

would this play the music through both speakers and not just one? no additional sound card needed? Do you lose any sound quality?

There are 1/8" male to RCA male cords that you can get at RadioShack.

Something like this should do.

It will be stereo.

Of course it will, as long as you get a stereo 1/8th jack.
As for sound quality, you're playing mp3s, the quality is already lost...

You still shouldn't worry about it.

What receiver are you using and what speakers?

Its a Panasonic SA-AK610..nothing special...but its a pretty decent little speaker system..it has 460W and a fat woofer....better than the piece of crap little speakers i have plugged into my comp. now.
