How should I connect my case fans?

I have a MSI KT3 Ultra2r, an antec truepower 330 PSU, and two case fans. I connected the 2 case fans to the "fan only" leads of my PSU. When I run the PC ALERT III utility that came with my MSI board it only shows fan speed of "fan 2". It doesn't show three separate fan speeds i.e. cpu, chassis, power. Should I have connected something to the "cfan1" header on the board or what?

the case fans have to be connected to the motherboard. i've seen setups where the power comes from the power supply with a single lead that goes to the board for monitoring tho.

There is a "fan speed monitoring connector" blue/black I believe on my power supply. Should this be connected to the MB, and the chassis fans stay connected to the fan only connectors of the power supply?

i think that monitors the speed of the power supply fan(s), i'm not 100% sure tho, check your literature. i don't think that will affect the case fans one way or the other.

It really depends on which fan you want to monitor (i.e. which one you're the most concerned about). Only those fans connected to the motherboard 3-pin connectors will be monitored, because the system can't monitor fans that aren't hooked up to it. I usually have the power supply fan being the one monitored, though most every motherboard I've seen has at least 2 of the motherboard connectors. Look carefully around the edges of the motherboard and see if you can't find any other connectors of that type.

I would like to monitor all three fans. According to docs. PC alert should monitor all three. There are two connectors left open on my MB. One is labeled SFAN1(system fan) it has 3 prongs labeled as follows: sensor, +12v,ground. The other is labeled PSFAN1(power supply fan) it is also three prong labeled as follows: ground,+12v,nc.

what you really need then is the fans with three prong connectors that allow for them to be monitored, instead of the ones that have the four prong and connect to the power supply. also, like i said before, i believe you can get three prong fans and an adapter that allows you to plug into the PS for power and have a single lead to hook into the header on your motherboard for the fan monitoring.

Ok then, but which header would I connect to. I guess I'm still confused as I am somewhat dyslexic.
