How sharp are your dikes?

They say a good pair can cut human hair with ease making a distinct snapping sound!
I must say these Klein D257-4C dikes are perfect in that regard!

"Stubbing" wires turns them into a formidable "gun" lobbing tinned leads well over 15 meters in the air! Goggles required!

There's nothing like having a good pair of dikes for pcb repair work.

Sharp enough to cut through 25pr cables all day without my hand cramping up. A good pair of dikes is a staple of my tool bag.

I have a couple of pairs of quaity dikes, plus a few pair of crappy ones as well.

I have 2-3 pairs of Klein linesman pliers, some Channellock "tie wire pliers," and some generic side-cutter linesman pliers as well. One of the best quality pliers I still have left from the "old days" before my garage was burgled is a pair of Snap-On needlenose pliers. Far superior to any of the competition.
When the garage was kicked in back in 98, I lost most of the tools I'd picked up over 25+ years. Some were virtually irreplaceable because the companies have gone under, so I was left with the few US tool manufacturers to try to replace things with. Some I didn't bother to replace because I no longer turn wrenches on heavy equipment...and 1" drive socket sets up to 3" as well as end wrenches to 3 " are no longer something I really need. I just took the payout from the insurance company and called it good.

xcelite tools by cooper are pretty good, we have some driver sets, precision screw drivers and small dikes/cutters/pliers from them that work great.

Right before I quit doing electrical, I got a set of Greenlee dikes and lineman pliers. I love em. Much sharper than the Kleins, and have better hand grips. I don't know if they are as tough, since I don't use them as much any more.

I dont normally need to sharpen my clippers, and if I did I'd probably screw it up. I used to have a cutlery store at my local mall that would take care of my stuff. Then I moved.
No cutlery store.
Everything dull.

my kleins are nice, probably could use a sharpening. but they won't cut through 4ga cable like my snap-ons.

If you cut a black and white wire with the power on the spark will create a spot in your cutting edge that can be honed into a wire stripper!

When I worked for the local electrical utility company, I spent a lot of my time working with the deep-well ag pump crew. Their foreman had LOTS of tools with arc burns, melted spots, etc. from forgetting to kill the power before he did something...

One winter day, we came across a downed power line. We called it in to the control center, and while we waited for a line crew to show up, he got the brilliant idea to grab that 12kV line with a pair of insulated Kleins...about the same time the system tried to re-energize the line...It threw him about 20 feet...didn't electrocute him...just knocked the shit out of him.

He put in his retirement papers the next week.

Truth be told, I have used pliers, dikes and screwdrivers as hammers when I couldn't find where the heck I put it .

Now Chinese scissors on the other hand.. one-way use only!

Maybe they'll even replace dikes if there was enough interest.
