how sell iphone 3g is profitable on ebay?

I saw many listings of iphone 3g on ebay whose sellers bought them from apple stores one day before. But a iphone 3g requires a 2-yr contract of a $39.99 rate plan minimum. How do they make these profitable deals?

They were having activation problems in-store at launch. Lots of people walked away with unactivated phones.

I was thinking of doing some Iphone business. I can buy Iphones without contract in Switzerland for ?320 and ?380 (8GB and 16GB). An Iphone without contract in Belgium is ?520 and ?620 (for the 8GB and 16GB). Belgium - Switzerland - Belgium is a 14 hour round trip and will cost me ?100 euro in diesel. I figure I can easily sell them in Belgium for ?420 and ?520 . The only problem is availability, Swisscom will only have a steady supply of Iphones in a couple of weeks.

Even though they were unactivated, they would not let you leave the store until you had signed a contract. All activation is doing is letting the people actually use their phones, has nothing to do with the contract like the previous iPhone where you would sign the contract during the activation process.

OK serious answer: Selling iPhone on fleabay = $~600 - ($200 iphone + $200 etf) = $200 profit?

If you are eligible to upgrade from AT&T (not everybody gets the $199/$299 pricing) AND are an existing customer i believe the equation would be:

$199 (8GB) + $18 activation + $80 first month + $5 second month (estimated) + $175 ETF = $477.

If you aren't eligible, it would be:
$399 (8GB) + $18 activation + $80 first month + $5 second month (estimated) + $175 ETF = $677.

You have to keep the line for >30 days in order to cancel and keep the phone (else they make you give back the device and not pay ETF), which is why I threw an addition $5 for the pro rated second month.

me sell jPhone...... next level on top of iPhone........ 5 snu snu and it all you 🙂

Every carrier has it. You pay it if you want to break out of your contract before it ends.

Thanks IsLNdbOi!😱

I wonder how the pricing works if I transfer from another cell carrier to AT&T 😕

If you don't have a contract with your carrier, you get it for $199. If you do, you'll have to pay them the ETF to leave, but the phone is still "new customer pricing." AT&T treats a new customer the same, whether or not they port their number ("transfer").
