How secure is this setup?

Hi,
I've got a home network with two boxes both running behind a SMC Barricade 7004BR. I've got InoclulateIT PE running for anti-virus software on both. Does this seem like a good setup for firewall and virus protection? Anything else that would be better?

thanks,

You could run a software firewall on each system if you're paranoid (like me 😉), but the router should work fine for security.

Firewall is needed to protect what is ?coming in?, and what is ?going out? (i.e. info on your system that is transmitted to the Net).

The Entry Level Routers are good in blocking the ?input?, not so good in blocking the output.

For even control you need good software Firewall.

Yeah, you need a firewall between your systems and the net to really be secure. Get one for your machines and as long as you keep everything up to date you should be fine 🙂

Zone Alarm is very popular, and free.

I got use to @guard (years ago), and upgraded to Norton (which is Bloated @guard).
