We're going to watch it tonight and I need to know if my wife's going to freak out on me.

She can handle moderately scary movies. She'll watch the Resident Evil movies, but won't touch something like Aliens, 28 Days Later, or Dawn of the Dead (either version).

David Bowie's not in this movie, right?

There is only 1 major scene I would consider scary, but its not long. However, there ARE some very disturbing scenes.

What is this movie about exactly? Is it a fantasy movie? It looks something like wizard of oz crossed with lion witch and the wardrobe to me.

Great, thanks for the opinions.

My wife got worried when she saw the quote about frying your nerves on the back.

I really hope this is as good as I've heard. Subtitles don't bother either one of us at all. We both learned to read *years* ago.

I watched it last night and did not find it scary. There were a couple disturbing parts, that's for sure.

For some reason the fact that it was in Spanish and subtitled actually ADDED to the feel of the movie. Overall I thought it was great and well worth the rental!!

It's more gory than scary. However, there is a connection with the story that you don't get in movies like resident evil, so what scary or creepy content there is might be amplified because the story is good. It's kind of like what you'd get if clive barker did a version of alice in wonderland.

Edit: Also, this is an informal sequel to The Devil's Backbone, which is also good (though not AS good, but worth watching for fans of pan's)

My parody of it
The brutality of that scene reminded me of Goodfellas, when Pesci's (sp?) character is stabbing the guy in the trunk.

There is one scene where it could be conisdered tense, but it's because a person is an idiot and not because it's scary.

Watch Casino, he does something even more brutal to a guy using a ballpoint pen. :p

It's not exactly scary, kind of disturbing, or strange. It's very cool, IMO.

My girlfriend LOVED it, but won't see it again because she doesn't like the hand-eye-child-eating monster. She's kind of a baby, though. Won't even watch Aliens.

I don't get the fear of Aliens. IMHO, Alien was far scarier.

I think Aliens is more of a gung-ho "hell yeah" kind of movie.
