Corruption was one of the primary reasons for the uprising. People were getting tired of the Russian-style kleptocracy ruining the country.

Yeah, it's super corrupt over there. Some western Ukrainian border cities live in large part off the customs bribes from EU trade. Nice country though, was there recently. Haven't been to the East yet, but Kiev and Lviv are worth visiting, once things quiet down a bit.
