How safe is skydiving?

Anyone have an idea of how many people die from it or something?

I'm trying to convince a friend he should go skydiving the weekend before graduation, that would be a great way to end the year IMO.

A fair number of the skydiving deaths are assumed to be suicides. It's a fairly good way to off yourself as unlike most suicide methods insurance should pay out. You're unlikely to get killed skydiving if you do it through a proper school, it's got a pretty high injury rate though. A lot of leg and back injuries on landing.

It is so safe that if you do it and get hurt or die, your dependents will likely get 0 dollars life insurance.

I've heard enough stories of death and serious injury that I won't do it. Not that long ago I read of an instructor who died when a chute failed.

I think most, if not all insurance policies have an exemption clause for dangerous activities.

There is danger in everything you do....if youlive with that fear you will miss out on a lot of things in life...I say go for it. I have over 1000 jumps now and I still have the same adrenalin rush everytime I jump out the plane, and I still kiss the ground when I'm down...but the best thing about i is the rest of the week, I'm more focused and enjoy everything a little bit more-because I just cheated death one more time.

Pay attention to the jumpmaster, LISTEN TO WHAT HE SAYS...PRACTICE WITH ALL OF YOUR FOCUS...then jump out the plane.

You'l never regret it.
