Goodbye clothes, hello Salvation Army!

I have a closet like that, some with the tags still on them. I am a female though, so I can get away with it:p

I have the same problem - I dropped off like 10 pairs of pants and a bunch of shirts at Goodwill, all with the tags on them. Good tax write off though.

you shouldn't donate your clothes to major organizations because they just end up selling it to Indian people who then sell it for a profit in africa destroying any possibility of africa creating a textile industry

just thought you should know ;)

We purged a couple of months ago, and suddenly I have room for my stuff now. The wife was ruthless, probably figuring she could spend more now that there is space ... :p

The goodwill blows. I had an entire set of enclycopedias, and they wouldn't take them!
They weren't even that dated, they came out in 1995! AND I had all the yearbooks up to 2002. Not to mention the two huge dictionaries.
I ended up tossing them because no one would take them. :(

do my chances of getting audited increase if I claim my clothing donation as a tax deduction ?
