Obviously the OP doesn't have much experience with sixty year old nurses.

Nurses are in high demand everywhere. Why would the Air Force be any different?

Hehehe, not quite. It's been my experience that 50-60 year old nurses are counting the days until they can retire. At that age, while the mind may be still willing, the body has begun to give out, and nursing is physically demanding. These people are not looking to sign up for a hitch with the USAF.

A 50-60 year old nurse can fill the roles that they would need easily without them worrying about having them run off for a different job. Stick around with the military for 10 years or so and you'll be better off for retirement.

Some kinds of nursing are less physically demanding than others. There are all kinds of reasons why anyone would want to join the USAF - and age alone is no reason to deny them.

that's why 50-60 year old nurses are usually known by another title.. Nursing Supervisor or Nurse Manager.ie: the boss :)

nurses with that level of experience would certainly be needed in the armed forces and because of nationwide shortages I can understand why they'd make special efforts to recuit them.

Uh no. They are cranky, disenfranchised, and most importably the most resistant to change and the furthest from recent improvements and advancements in medical practice.

<----- Works with nurses daily and has a wife that does too. And several aunts that are nurses. And uncles that are in healthcare. And a Grandmother that is a nurse.

So lets assume they are targeting your "avg" nurse - this is the 45'ish woman BTW. Oh, that would include me. Yep, me. I'll just pack the house, kids and pets and sign up today.

Who is the marketing idiot that came up with this promo?

Some may be single. Others may have a AF installation near them. If so, this allows the AF to better position the existing active duty personel.

It's simple. 20 year old nurses are much sexier and more energetic........but the 61 year olds usually don't have teeth. So it's a tradeoff.
