How ridiculous.... Halo 2 Fall 2004

Seeing as I was never a huge fan of the first one, this means little to me.

It does suck for Halo fanboys. I'm glad that MS/bungie will take the necessary time to make the game good though.

I dont know about necessary? Im sure plenty of the delay has been a strategic move to take the wind out of Sony or Nintendo's sails with whatever they are going to release.

Exactly my question. They said they wouldn't announce release dates until they were sure and now they are sure about this. What's the big deal?

When I worked for Gamestop, they fed us "Christmas 2003" all the time. Thats what they told us to tell our customers. Then it became "Spring 2004". I was instantly a giant liar to all of my Xbox customers.

Thank god I don't have to push that drivel anymore. I don't believe any release date until I hear the gold announcement.

And I can only presume that Storm thinks the same "ridiculous" thing about every other game that is delayed (i.e. HL2) or perceived to be delayed.

This is indeed stategic posturing. This will be the game to buy during the entire fall holiday season of 2004.

Niether Sony or Nintendo have anything to stack up against it, so it wouldn't matter when they released it. MS just wants their numbers to look good.

Oh really? I didn't know that. I stand corrected then 😉.

I still think they are more far along than they would let the Halo community believe. I mean cmon Halo 2 coming out in the fall only to coincide with Sony's PSP and possibly Nintendo's new dual screen handheld?

Thats a little too fishy imho.

I'll take it when they sell it, I'm looking forward to it but it's not a huge deal. I don't know why people keep setting themselves up for disappointment by putting words in the developpers' mouths for release dates.

the same way a process can be delayed duh

i think we've had this argument before...

Well to be fair, every game has some internal target release date. Only Bungie, Valve, whomever really know whether a game is "delayed" or not.

how is that "fishy"?!??!? PSP and handhelds are in a completely different target niche than Halo 2. saying that halo 2 being released in the fall to compete with the nintendo/sony products is tantamount to saying that mazda releasing the rx8 around the same time as the ford f-150 was a strategic move.

Hahaha 🙂. Seriously wtf with Duke Nuke'em  Or better yet the video card the Bit Boys were going to bring out?

I mean cmon MS/Bungie is more reliable them the above 🙂.

Edit
them=than oops 🙂.

i guess some of you werent around for the wait that PC users had to endure for halo, i remember seeing it first displayed at macworld and being sooo excited for its "may 2000" release, needless to say, it would only be right for the second one to follow suit 😛

hopefully we won't have to endure the same POS engine that requires too much hardware for what the graphics actually look like

The decision to move it to the Fall is most likely a STRATEGIC move.

Since games like Halo or GTA can make a system, I'm sure this all-important game is being timed with Xmas, new pricing or product intros.

I just hope they get the online game RIGHT!

This is dissapointing but when it does come out, it better be the best game ever made, for playing with us fanboys' emotions like this 😛.

Most big games come out in the fall anyways. Plus PS2 owners will get MGS3 and FFXII this fall so I'm sure that's why Halo 2 will be released in the fall.

Look at those screenshots. Those graphics look sweet. And I don't think it's ridiculous. They never gave a date, and I'd rather have a finished game in all it's glory rather than an unfinished game with tons of bugs. I personally can't wait to get my hands on Halo 2.

Sigh, that means us PC users will be waiting till 2005. Suddenly I'm hoping they'll drop the x-box to $99. Won't happen till the x-box2 but I can hope. 😛

I'm still waiting on Fable. It was supposed to come out with the X-box but it isn't going to be released until this June. It is the whole reason I got the Xbox over the GameCube too. :|
