That being true then a happy person would feel as though heaven and earth are in their proper alignment while an unhappy person would feel that heaven and earth are aligned against them.

I saw this article in the WSJ that said the people that make 75k a year are the most happy. I don't care if the rich make billions. You can't take it with you when you die but I do care when stupid asses who are broke as fuck like Projo and Spidey want to trash middle America and lick the assholes of old rich white guys.

Sure a lot of rich people worked for it. but so do most of the people who aren't rich. Tons of people work there ass off, only a very small portion actually become rich.
Rich people tend to have also taken great risks to attain their wealth. Opening a business, investing in new ventures, etc., are all very risky.

This is America. Quit bitching about what other people have and get your own.

LOL, I have everything I want or need. The problem is that guys with attitudes like yours keep trying to take what I already have away from me. :D

Well known

There are many rich that will never be happy just there are many poor that are very happy.

*knowing in one's head and living it are completely different things. 99% of the people that know it have no idea how to live it. Most of them too busy stressing about paying bills, rather than unplugging and ceasing to confuse their identity with their physical surroundings. Watch these videos, lot of what this guy says is true, he's pretty funny too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPg9DnMP2D4&feature=BFa&list=PL2A0B9D0102675354&lf=autoplay If you try hard enough, you will get better at it, but I can honestly say there have been moments where I realized it simply wouldn't matter if I didn't have a car or job or any of that, as long as I had food and trees that would be enough to keep me 100% happy. These moments will come more frequently if you work at it. All our problems and sadnesses and depressions stem from our lack of identity and not knowing* Who we really are.

*english language doesn't have quite the word for it, but a better word is "believing" because then it's actually true in your life. Simply knowing a factoid that money doesn't make us happy or having a factoid of who we are doesn't make a difference...you've got to believe it.

What if many of the rich stole money from the lower classes? Would it then be OK to bitch about it?

Suppose the rich got together and manipulated government policies to benefit the upper classes at the expense of the lower classes, such as supporting policies that dramatically increase the supply of labor, which depresses wages and allows them to keep a larger percentage of a worker's contribution to the act of wealth production as profit.

we haven't really seen runaway examples of this until just recently, IMO. Proof being, we've had a healthy strong middle class up until...right about now.

I believe you are equating money to happiness. That is a false presumption.

Money can't buy happiness, but it will allow you to choose your own misery if you're unhappy and a lack of money is almost guaranteed to make you unhappy.

Not rich either. But of course it should come as no surprise that the upper-middle class and rich think differently than the rest. It's mainly how they got there in the first place - making good decisions about one's wealth and future which normally includes hard work and/or simply working harder to become better than the rest no matter what your occupation or means of income is.

High net worth, nice 250K+ home income, etc aren't given to the majority of people that enjoy them. It wasn't luck, it wasn't by permission by society to let them and it wasn't a gift from society/government (which is the mind of a liberal, that's what they believe).

Of course the rich think differently, it's how they became rich/well to do in the first place. If this comes as a surprise, or somehow makes one angry/jealous, well, that's why you won't become well to do or "rich". It really is.

Do you think they are happier than you?

Abso-frick'in-lutely not. If they were, they would be content with what they already have, like me. Instead, they are locked into an endless quest of acquiring more money and more power and will never be satisfied.

Maybe it's the thrill of the hunt that gets them off, but still, it's another "thing" they can never get enough of.

It's same thing as asking chronic ice-heads if they are happy. ;)

According to the literature I read money is a "hygiene factor" where in, just like showering, enough is plenty and more is a waste of time.

Kind of proof that economic assumptions are a bunch of bullshit and monitory motivation is an irrational way to ration human services.

Can we quantify happiness with any certainty and say who is and who isn't?

i saw a couple black guys in the hood earlier today, barely walking smoking a joint and one had a 40 oz bagged in his hands. They were both laughing and looked very happy.

Your sense of self importance is unbelievable. Anybody who thinks that genetic inheritance, societal structure, resources & blind luck have nothing to do with it is a self absorbed fool. Too bad you weren't born to a North Korean peasant family.

Even over the internet, your smug hatred of others & fear of failure mark you as one one of Earth's most miserable human inhabitants, despite your material possessions.

You definitely think differently, no doubt about that. Here's hoping you choke on it.

Lol! I love my life. Let your jealousy flow and feed your anger.

In negotiations on a million dollar home (not any more it's not, because I'm going to steal it based on the current real estate market). Can't wait to send you a picture that says - "fuck you liberal, I got mine!"

You see, liberal, what you perceive as smugness is called confidence, determination and optimism. Not the "woe is me, somebody elses fault, it's because of somebody else that I'm not successful" that truly is, the mind of a liberal.

Many of them do 'think differently'.

I was listening to a minute of Bob Brinker's radio show today (money theme) and a woman with a couple million in wealth called in. The host asked her how she made it, and she kept not answering - not objecting to the question, but saying she 'was lucky', 'she respects money', 'from hard work', 'her parents brought her up well', he kept repeating the question, and she provided probably 15 of these non-answers.

She couldn't simply say how she made it, not a word about that. Finally, since she's in Vegas, he asked if she was a gambler; she said no; then he asked what she did one more time, and she finally said a couple companies. So she was an entrepeneur he asked? Yes, sort of she said, and that was that.

She had just kept launching into all these 'pulled herself up by her bootstrap' cliches patting herself on the back over and over each time he asked.

It would be easy to see how she would hate any programs for others, since she just couldn't relate to that.
