How rice is it to...

Run the vinyls of products on the door race car style? This of course talking about a car that has the product installed.

I ask because me and a friend got into a debate over it. I've got some hardware installed in my car and have a stack of vinyl stickers, he was trying to get me to put them on the vehicle but while I think when done right it can look cool, it's rice as hell. So I ask the members of ATOT, rice or not rice?

I would prefer the sleeper look myself.

While I have a thing for sleepers (phaeton w12 with twin turbo's anyone?), my car looks more aggressive than it is so that's already out the window.

On a race car put them on

On a street car leave them off

I have a bunch of stickers from the parts I normally use... Hoosier, hawk, etc... But since I also drive my car on the street I don't use them.

I have a bunch of the stickers too...I use them to rice out my tool boxes 🙂

If you're not being paid to advertise the product, keep it off, otherwise super rice.

That and it provides a convenient checklist for thiefs.

Why advertise what you put into the car? Unless you're getting something for turning car into a billboard, don't.

Exactly.

The reason why race cars have a bunch of decals on them is because they are sponsored. If you're not sponsored, (a)why give them free advertising, (b)text on a car almost always ruins the clean lines. Even race cars would look better without the product placement...but, again, they are sponsored.

If you have stickers for performance parts you can place them on a radiator shroud or something similar under the hood. That's not rice.

Put the stickers on the car when they pay you to (or give the product to you in exchange for doing so), otherwise leave them off.

The only reason I'd ever put a sticker like that on my car is if the manufacturer was paying me for the advertising.

Honestly though the only purpose is for cash. If you go to the track a lot, many manufacturers offer contingency prizes. So if you win an event, you get some cash for displaying their logo on your vehicle. Usually it's not as if you have to cut a deal with them, you just have to check out the manufacturer's rules and the rules at the track. So no you don't have to call up the manufacturer and get on a list or anything. I would imagine this hasn't changed as it's been that way since the 'old days' of drag racing.
This is why you'll see guys with their track cars pasted with stickers, it's not to impress the kiddies or anything. You can collect some decent cash if you regularly race in events. If your gonna goto the track once a year with your daily driver, the money you could possibly collect isn't going to be enough to compensate the time it'll take to remove the stickers when you realize how retarded they are on a daily driver.
