How resilient is the retail Athlon 64 thermal goo?

I'm installing a brand new retail Athlon 64 3200. I'm just going to use the included gray square of thermal grease (or whatever it is) as the thermal interface between the chip and the heatsink. (I don't plan on any overclocking.)

I have read that if you ever remove the heatsink, you have to redo your thermal grease. I haven't removed the heatsink completely, but I have uclippped and reclipped the retention mechanism. This may have caused the chip and heatsink to move around a little. (In fact, I felt the heatsink block slide about a millimeter over the surface of the chip.)

Do I have to redo the thermal solution because of this or is it ok since it hasn't had power, yet? I just don't know how sensitive this stuff is.

Thanks.

i would say it would be ok to just clip back down .. as the thermal grease only sets in when it starts to transfer heat (i.e. when you start to use the proc), and even then it can take up to 2 weeks to be fully efficient..
