I've spent a while this morning fiddling around with youtube and multiple gmail accounts.

Here is my problem: I cannot remove a deleted youtube channel from my "switch account" dropdown in youtube.

These days youtube is generally associated with a google account, e.g. your personal account. However, you can also have a number of channels. These can be called anything you want (internally), like microsoft, pepsi, etc. However, to have a name like youtube.com/microsoft, that actual URL has to be available and of course microsoft already has it.

My problem is: if I create a channel called microsoft, and then delete it, it continues to hang around in my "switch account" listing. There's no way to change its name or remove it from the listing. It just sits there. This is confusing now because the channel I erroneously created is named the same as another channel I have with another account (and I want to keep that one).

Anybody got a solution?

Try looking under the Video Manager ... once in there, you will see your Playlists ... you should be able to delete what you no longer use in there.

Totalg empty though because there is nothing with this channel.

If you right now go to youtube, top right hit switch account, , then all my channels. On that screen create a new channel. Name it Microsoft. You now have a Microsoft named channel. Now delete it. You can delete it, but you cannot remove Microsoft from the switch account list. Even though the channel is deleted its name placeholder isnt. Don't say I didn't warn you if you try :)

I finally found somebody online with same issue but their resolution doesn't work for me because I do not have google plus enabled.

You may need to do it thru Google Plus even though you don't want to use it. I don't have Google Plus enabled either.
