How reliable is amazon market place?

Just wondering.

I need a specialist textbook for work and amazon were out of stock, but there were plenty of used copies available for sale on amazon marketplace.

To me it looks very similar to ebay, but while I'm fairly expeiernced with ebay. However, despite this, I probably made some nübi blunder by going for the first one on the list, from a seller with 0 feedback - yeah, yeah - I know. I was distracted tired, and I desperately need the book.

So I'm just wondering what happens if the seller fails to deliver. (The cheapest used copy of this book was about $600 - new it goes for about $900. This is a very large, very specialized text book).

I'm almost positive Amazon will refund your money if the item never shows. Also, if you put it on an American Express you can cancel the charge directly from them.

i order 90% of everthing i buy from amazon
never had any probs at all the product allways reach on time and in good condition

Amazon will refund your money if something goes wrong. Then they will go after the seller. HUGE improvement over eBay who claims to be in charge when it is time to collect, then hides behind claims of only being a venue when things go wrong.

You've already looked at http://www.addall.com/ for your book, right? How about the UK Amazon site?

I've sold lots of books through Amazon, but I don't really buy because it doesn't save much on the $6-$20 books that I normally buy. I would trust Amazon market place, though.

i only buy people with 98%+ rating, and ill pay a few bucks more for 99% rating

ive never been ripped off.. but 97% rating and below usually mean slowwww shipping
