Well thanks for the info guys. I think I've pretty much thrown the BMW out unless I'm going to lease, which like I said, I'm not big on. So it looks like it is the Lexus IS250 or 350. I might take a look at the G37 to see if that does anything for me.

But you should get the Lexus, I don't like it when there's too many people driving my car around anyway.

That plus I think all normal service is covered during the warranty.

I'd go BMW, but then I'm biased. Your fears seem odd as you'll be buying new and get three worry free years which you can extend to the full five if you can't 'risk' running it after the warranty.

As the other said, onboard computer monitors and adjusts interval. Manual is for 80s car, you know? (J.K 😉)

Anyway, it starts at 15k, but it's adjusted time by time. Oil change light came on at around 13k for me.

Ah.. so since I only have 1k in my bank account, my Bimmer will never ask me for repairs, huh? That's great!!

my 325xi is very reliable, have never had a problem with it.. I've had it since '06 got it new when the model changeover happened. its been great to me! That said, I'm still under the 4 year 50,000 mile protection plan. From a RELIABILITY standpoint I think it is extremeley reliable... cost is a whole different question and realm IMO.

I'd rather be broken down on the side of the road in a BMW than driving a rolling tomb that is a Lexus.

Just to be clear, I believe DivideByZero lives in Great Britain. In the US, a 4-year/50K-mile warranty, and 4 years of maintenance are included with every BMW. IIRC you can extend the warranty to 6 years and 100K miles for around $2,200 - $2,500.

I bought a 2-year-old Certified Pre-Owned 330i recently for about $15K below the original retail price with about 13K miles - the CPO process adds the extended warranty, so I have another 4 years of warranty and 2 years of BMW maintenance. Love the car.

Personally I think this is the way to go, my 330XI isn't CPO but I did get an extended warranty that covers me 5 years or 100K, we did CPO on the wife's Audi and had great luck with that, everything was covered except wear and tear items and it saved us lots of money. The trouble with buying brand new is the instant depriciation the minuet you drive off the lot. Just my $.02.

The 335i I had before my current M3 was flawless. The M3 had a noise in the steering column that was fixed when the dealer replaced the front left strut tower under warranty.

Regarding a comparison of the 3 series to the IS350: I much prefer the 3 series coupe (E92) over the Lexus in terms of body style, whereas I'd prefer the Lexus over the E90 sedan. The Lexus has more of a "ricer" feel to me, and I don't like the way the back end of the car looks.
