I tested my friend's pentium III orb, this thing is pretty darn quiet!!!

I was wondering if any of you guys could comment on this cool-looking cooler, cause I'm definitely buying it if it means an even quieter system for me :D. It'd be helpful too if you could give me the links to some places that have the orb for a good price.

Thanks!

The are just as quiet as the PIII versions. I have the KT-7 orb and it's extremely quiet. The loudest fan in my system is the Abit chip fan (it's gotta go!).

For Orbs I'd check with PhamComputer

They have a good selection & cheap shipping!

I have the Slot A Golden Orb and I am dissapointed with how loud it is. The Gorb is much louder than any of my Panaflo case fans which are rated at 28 dB (80mm) and 32 (I think) dB (120mm), despite the Gorb's supposed rating of 26 dB. Not only that, but the Gorb's noise is a high-pitched whine that I find really annoying. I since switched it to a 7 volt input and it is still the loudest thing in my case.

I understand that some (early?) Gorbs that had a black ring on the inside of the orb were noisier than subsequent models. Mine doesn't have the black ring.

The athlon golden orbs are really quiet. I removed my Artic Circle from my cpu and put the golden orb on and there was a noticable difference in the decrease in whine. Now my hard drive makes more sound than my cpu fan :Q
