How quiet are honda generators?

if you mean like.. a small generator that you can power a fridge and a tv off of (ie: what we got during wilma to run the fridge)... then you'll want it outside.

Even with it outside it was rather loud. Forgot the 'brand' of the generator, but the engine was a honda.

Edit: put large instead of loud. And it was pretty loud, it didn't bother me that much but it bugged my mom

my boss bought one during ivan that was extrememly quiet, as in a hum from 10 feet away. not sure of the model #, but it was a honda. cost him 2500, but worth it.

They are getting pretty quiet. If you ever camp in an RV in a campground, you can definately tell the older ones from the new ones.

Depends on what model...

The Honda EU1000i supposedly measures 59dB @ 7m running at full load, but I have heard from various sources that you can hold a normal conversation with someone while standing right next to it.

I'm not sure why you would want to sit right next to it. Are you planning on watching TV outdoors?

Wouldn't you want to run ALL residental generators outside?

..I have a ex 600 and it's very quiet. Sounds more like an electric motor then a gas motor. The new ones are even better wit inverter output and are rated 1kw or more. There not cheap..mabe 800.00 for the 1kv jobbie. But they seem to run for ever.

yeah, you can run a decent length of wire from it, it has to be outside or you'll die like Weird Al Yankovichs parents!

Isn't a lawn mower 60db (could be 90, I forget)? And, that reading is measured from two feet away.

LOL, great post.

Honda's small engines are bar-none the best, and as mentioned earlier, the newer they are the quieter it will be. Why you would run a generator next to a TV (indoors?) is beyond me.

Gas-powered lawn mowers generally run around 90-100 dB.
