There was a post on that a while ago. Kinda strange it's gone now 🙁
Anyways, stumbled arcross this info. It appears that no support for CDR's is not a software "copy-protection" measure, it's just cost reduction. So if you remove your DVD drive from game console and install "el cheapo" DVD-Rom like this one ...

Moderators: I'm NOT suggesting software piracy! I don't even have PS2 or XBox. 😱
